Information & Limitations of Curving Aluminium
MINIMUM RADII
Mill Finish:-
8-10 times the depth of section in plane of curve
Powder Coated:-
10-15 times the depth of section in plane of curve
Thermally Broken:-
10-15 times the depth of section in plane of curve
Anodised:-
10-15 times the depth of section in plane of curve
(types of curve)
* ALL RADII TO BE MEASURED FROM INSIDE OF CURVE *
Bronze Anodised:-
We recommend that this always be done after curving as crazing and
cracking are unavoidable on bronze finish.
Minimum radius attainable = 350mm. (Dependant on section)
The tolerance on a bend is normally +/- 1.00mm following the line of
arc, for rigid sections. (Mullions, heads, transoms, etc..).
Where sections are more flexible, e.g. beading, covers, rebates etc.,
these can be curved to customers requirements. (Opened or closed).
The length of section required = length of developed arc plus 750mm
per curve. (Measured around outside of curve.)
Maximum supply length = 6100mm
The largest radius that can be curved in one piece for a semi-circle
is 1725mm to outside of curve.
Maximum sizes:
Square..............92 x 92(min radius = 850mm)
Rectangular....113 x 72(min radius plan= 1500mm)
165 x 65(in elevation only)
135 x 75(in elevation only)
